LCoH Richard Raffel and Eros V make the UK Armed Forces Equestrian Team

Eros was purchased un broken as a 3-year-old from Holland in 2012 whilst on a posting in Germany, there we started our journey together. Eros isn't an easy horse at times as he's very sensitive, he was extremely tense as a young horse so we haven't rushed him and taken lots of time with training. Eros is now 8 years old. We have been competing in the Army competitions together since 2014, have been a member of the Army Squad since 2015 and competed in our first seniors at the Royal Tournament last year. We currently compete at BS up to Newcomers level and some unaffiliated eventing. Richard is currently serving in the Household Cavalry as a riding instructor. Richard works with the young horses backing and training them ready for their job. He teaches new recruits on a 12-week Khaki ride then moving onto a 4-week Kit ride where they then pass out. He is also involved with all the state visits and parades for the Queen. Any spare time Richard has is spent with Eros training or at competitions. He is married to Leanne who looks after Eros and keeps him in work at times whilst Richard is away with work. Here Richard and Eros are competing together in the #landrover Services Team Jumping Class at #royalwindsorhorseshow last month.
