How this league works

Getting started is simple—just follow three easy steps:

1. Compete
Enter eligible Introductory-level dressage tests at recognised competitions or approved online events. Both affiliated and unaffiliated riders are welcome.

2. Submit Your Scores
Upload your results to Forces Equine so your performance can be included in the league leaderboard.

3. Earn Points & Progress
Points are awarded based on your percentage scores. Consistent performance moves you up the leaderboard and helps you qualify for the Forces Equine Championships.

**NOTE. For security purposes, we have included areas that your place of works falls into, for more on this, please see our FE Areas. Please ensure that you let us know what area you come under.

The Introductory Dressage League is designed to be fair, transparent, and easy to follow. All riders are expected to adhere to these rules to ensure a smooth and enjoyable competition experience.

Eligibility

  • Open to all riders within the Forces Equine community: serving and veteran personnel, emergency services staff, and supporting civilians.
  • Horses and riders may compete in multiple competitions; each horse-and-rider combination earns points separately.
  • Only scores from eligible Introductory-level tests at recognised competitions or approved online events will count toward league standings.

Championship Qualification

The Introductory Dressage League offers riders a clear pathway from competition to championship-level recognition. Qualification is based on consistent performance throughout the season, giving every rider the chance to progress and be rewarded for their efforts.

How to Qualify

  1. Accumulate Points – Compete in eligible Introductory-level tests and earn points according to your percentage score.
  2. Maintain Consistency – Only the best results across the season are considered for championship qualification, encouraging regular participation and steady improvement.
  3. Leaderboard Standing – Riders with the highest accumulated points at the end of the season will qualify for the Forces Equine Championships.

Key Notes

  • Points from both affiliated and unaffiliated competitions count toward qualification.
  • Each horse-and-rider combination qualifies independently.
  • Qualification is confirmed by the Forces Equine committee and communicated to riders before the Championships.

Why it Matters

This system ensures that every rider has a fair chance to compete at the highest level, while rewarding dedication, skill development, and consistent performance across the season. It also highlights the value of the league as a development pathway, not just a leaderboard.
